RCM Performance Assessment

Registering for an RCM Performance Assessment follows the same process as registering for an examination. Please follow the below steps to register for a RCM Performance Assessment:

1.  Log into your MyRCM account 
2. Click on "Register for exam"
3. Click on "Start Registration"
4. Select/Added which Student will be taking the assessment
5. Confirm Student Info
6. In Examination Details:
   1. When asked "Is this a Practical or Theory Exam?", select "Practical"
   2. When asked "Which Subject or Discipline?", select the " Performance Assessment" option for your discipline

• Performance Assessments available for a limited time only: August 2024 on Mondays and Tuesdays.
• Performance Assessments are availble for piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, and double bass.
• For your assessment, you need a smartphone (iOS or Android), tablet (iOS or Android), or a computer with webcam and mic (PC or Mac). A smartphone or tablet is recommended (instead of a computer).
• You need a reliable, high speed (1.5Mbps and faster) Internet connection. For best results, ensure that others in your assessment location are not using the same Internet connection during your exam.
• During the assessment, the examiner must be able to see you performing on your instrument and must be able to clearly hear your performance. You need the appropriate instrument(s) available at your location.
  • For Piano Assessments: For Preparatory to Level 8, a tuned acoustic piano is recommended. A weighted-touch electronic keyboard is permitted. For Level 8 to Licentiate, a tuned acoustic piano is required.
• For assessmemts with pieces that require a collaborative pianist, playing with a collaborative pianist is recommended, but not required.

How to Set Up Your Performance Assessment

This document includes important information on how to set up for your Performance Assessment. Please read it at least 48 hours prior to your assessment.
 

Accessing Your Zoom Assessment Meeting Room

Access the link to your Zoom assessment through your MyRCM account. Once you have logged in, click on "My Exams and Results" and select the family member taking the assessment. The "Start Exam" button will take you straight to your Zoom meeting and will activate 5 MINUTES BEFORE your assessment. 

"Leave the Meeting" When Your Assessment is Over

It is very important that you click the "Leave Meeting" button on the bottom right-hand corner of your Zoom screen when instructed by the examiner. If you do not do this, other students will be unable to join their assigned Zoom room.  
 

Zoom Resources

Download the current version of Zoom at least 24 hours before your assessment. Your entry into the assessment room may be delayed if Zoom pushes an update to your device immediately before your exam start time.
