Celebrate Beethoven’s iconic last symphony with a screening of Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Larry Weinstein’s deeply personal Beethoven’s Nine. The evening also features an exclusive Q&A session with Weinstein, Music Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra Gustavo Gimeno, and Canadian journalist and author Steve Paikin, host of TVO's “The Agenda,” along with  thrilling performances by artists from The Glenn Gould School.

The film follows nine unique individuals, including Ukrainian musicians, a deaf composer, a Polish rock star, a best-selling author, a legendary cartoonist, and Weinstein himself, as they try to better understand the legacy of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, the composer’s own struggles, the inspiration music can provide, and how humanity continues to look for hope even in the darkest times.

Oscar nominated writer and director Larry Weinstein is one of Canada's most prolific and accomplished documentary filmmakers who has been honoured with retrospectives around the world and broadcasts in more than 40 countries.
