Award-winning journalist and Chief Correspondent for MSNBC Ali Velshi offers his take on Trump, Harris, America, and the world, and discusses his recent book Small Acts of Courage, his own multi-racial family’s story, with CBC senior correspondent Susan Ormiston.
Born in Nairobi and raised in Toronto, Velshi brings a unique perspective from a Washington insider’s point of view and, most importantly, from a Canadian point of view. Small Acts of Courage chronicles his family’s journey from apartheid South Africa to Kenya to Toronto and serves as a heartfelt exploration of how we can breathe new life into the principles of pluralistic democracy.
Susan Ormiston is CBC News’ first international climate correspondent, tackling high-profile stories and breaking news on climate change around the world. As a long-time CBC senior correspondent for TV, radio, and online, Ormiston has interviewed a wide range of newsmakers including U.S. President Bill Clinton, former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, IMF managing director Christine Lagarde, and as well as the musicians Céline Dion, Shania Twain, and Sting.
Mr. Velshi will participate in a discussion with Ms. Ormiston about the upcoming US election and its consequences. He will also talk about his book Small Acts of Courage and answer questions from the audience.
