Teaching Elementary Piano
Discover how to instill a lifelong love of music in your elementary-level students. There are two Elementary Piano course options.
The guided online course follows a 10-week schedule, with an average of four to six hours of work required each week. There is also a self-guided course option at the elementary level. It can be completed in as little as 40 hours. If you are a new teacher, this course will give you a strong pedagogical foundation and new insights towards teaching that will help you and your students achieve success. If you are a seasoned professional, whether that be in piano or other disciplines, you will have the opportunity to learn from other experts in your field, as well as share your own approaches and techniques with your classmates.

Teaching Intermediate Piano
Develop ways to keep your busy intermediate-level students engaged and inspired. This course will build on your current knowledge and focus on topics that will help you guide your intermediate-level students through their musical journey.
Mandatory Age Requirement: 16+ | Prerequisites (at least one of the following):
- Completion of the Teaching Elementary Piano Course and a mark of 60+, or
- RCM Certified Teacher with Elementary Piano Specialist designation, or
- Elementary Piano Pedagogy Certificate, or
- Elementary Pedagogy Written Exam, mark of 70+

Teaching Advanced Piano
Great teachers are always learning. Explore different approaches to support your advanced-level students' transition to artist.
Mandatory Age Requirement: 18+ | Prerequisites (at least one of the following):
- Completion of the Teaching Intermediate Piano Course and a mark of 60+, or
- RCM Certified Teacher with Intermediate Piano Specialist designation, or
- Intermediate Piano Pedagogy Certificate, or
- Intermediate Pedagogy Written Exam, mark of 70+
