Course Requirement Exemption

If you are interested in taking a course but do not have any of the prerequisites above (based on our records), and believe you have the experience or qualifications to enable you to successfully take the course, please fill out our exemption request form. Please note that these are in depth courses, and we highly recommend that you have one of the prerequisites prior to enrolling.

Please note that as teachers move through our online Piano Teacher courses, they get a good grasp of the RCM curriculum and program. If you have limited familiarity with the RCM, we encourage you to take the Elementary course. To clarify, the Elementary course refers to the level of your students, not your level of experience (i.e. the Teaching Elementary Piano course refers to teaching students who are at the Elementary level – i.e. equivalent to RCM Prep to Level 4).  Many teachers have found that the Elementary course has much to offer even teachers who have a great deal of experience. The Teaching Intermediate Piano course assumes understanding and familiarity with the material covered in the Elementary course, and the Teaching Advanced Piano course assumed understanding and familiarity with the material covered in the Elementary and Intermediate levels (which includes knowledge of RCM exams).

If you fill out this form, please do not enroll in your Online Piano Teacher Course until you have heard back from us as to whether your request has been accepted. Please submit your exemption request at least one week prior to the course enrollment deadline to allow for assessment and processing.
