Yvonne Boon

I have over a decade of teaching experience with students of all ages and abilities. I teach all levels of RCM piano and theory, and also teach a variety of styles, including classical, pop, and improv. I encourage my students to be well-rounded musicians in their learning, including musicianship skills and history knowledge. I graduated from MacEwan University in 2014 with diplomas in Piano Performance and Composition. Then, I pursued my ARCT Performers with RCM in 2018. I am passionate about lifelong learning and regularly continue my professional development through attending masterclasses, clinics, and meetings with other teachers in the community. I am a member of ARMTA, and also serve on the Provincial and Edmonton Branch boards. As a keyboardist, my musical theatre adventures include tours with Alberta Musical Theatre Company’s productions of Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio, for a combined total of over 500 shows, Ecole Secondaire Beaumont Composite High School’s productions of Nine to Five and the Drowsy Chaperone, Eastglen High School’s production of Changing Minds, and subbing on Keys II for the Citadel’s Little Shop of Horrors. Recently, I performed in the Winnipeg and Edmonton Fringe Festival (LSTentertainment, 2022-2024; Dammitammy Productions, 2022-2023). I have also accompanied soloists at the Edmonton Music and Speech Arts Festival, Sherwood Park Music Festival, in various local choirs, performed at Kaleido Family Arts Festivals, K-Days, Animethon, and at various other private events and local venues. I also enjoy songwriting, and learning other various instruments.
