Trina Carey Hodgson, cellist, and registered SAA Teacher Trainer in cello. She has a varied and distinguished career as performer, teacher, clinician, and in the recording industry in the U.S., Europe and Asia. She has won performance awards with the Society of American Musicians, American String Teacher Association, and Music Teacher’s National Association, among others. Associate principal of the Pasadena Symphony, Ms. Hodgson also freelances as a chamber and soloist in Los Angeles. She and collaborating pianist, Carol Lee, perform regularly around the southland. She has run her cello program, A-Cello-Rondo, since 1990 and is a member of the faculty of the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. Ms. Hodgson’s students have attended major universities and made careers in music. Trina studied at the Eastman School of Music and received her MA degree at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Teachers include Ronald Leonard, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, and Tanya Carey. She is a member of the ASTA Studio Teachers Committee, and the Los Angeles Violoncello Society board. Other service includes the boards of Suzuki Music Association of California (past-president), LA-ASTA, Cello Coordinator of SAA national conference, and was founder/facilitator of the annual LA Suzuki Cello Teacher Retreat and the Suzuki Association National Board. She is a member of the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra Committee. She and her husband also own a campground in the Black Hills near Mt. Rushmore.
