Teresa A Venhuizen

My musical instruction in piano and singing has spanned several decades and scores of students, both through my private home studio as well as in schools, churches and summer camps. I trained as a young student with Barbara Creighton and later trained with the esteemed pianists James Anagnosen and Leslie De'Ath at Wilfrid Laurier University. As well, I owe my best vocal teaching skills to my years studying with the beloved and late Victor Martens, renowned vocal coach. I am a detailed, thorough and caring communicator, able to motivate students to achieve their best in learning and performing, and to carry their love of music into their life adventures. I encourage habits of regular practice, reflection and goal-setting, and stay in touch with parents and guardians appropriately. Voluntary participation in small community recitals and RCM exams provides my students and myself with several key ways to honour and evaluate our progress and growth.
