Tanya showed an interest in the piano at an early age and her talent was apparent once starting lessons at the age of seven. She soon started entering competitions locally and provincially, winning numerous awards and scholarships. Tanya also worked through the RCM program and completed many exams, practical and theory.
Tanya started teaching in 1994 and soon found she enjoyed it immensely. After several years teaching, she decided to pursue her ARCT while working full-time. Eventually Tanya moved to Calgary to study with Peter Turner and began teaching at the Irene Besse academy. Once completing her ARCT, Tanya worked to open her own home studio and has continued teaching ever since. Her students have excelled in exams and have entered local festivals. Her main teaching program is RCM, but will tailor a program to suit each students preferences whether it be pop, classical or a mix of both.
Tanya is a member of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association and the Alberta Piano Teachers Association. She has also volunteered on the executive of her local ARMTA branch in the past. She still teaches out of her home where she lives with her husband, young daughter and very friendly cat.
