I have over twenty years of experience teaching piano. Every student can succeed. My goal is for the student to love the piano as much as I do. How do I do that? I see what works. I'm open to what the student wants to learn, and then I continue to find ways to make that exciting.
The Royal Conservatory of Music program has been incorporated into my teaching as well. Two of my students have been invited to perform at the Northeast Region Celebration of Excellence in 2019, and in 2022. This event celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of the RCM Certificate Program's top students in the region!
I am comfortable teaching up to late intermediate and early advanced piano students. I have taught many students and once in awhile, I will encourage them to move to another teacher. One example was in 2021. I had a student for ten years and he was ready to begin his senior year. Most teachers would just hold on to him for his last year. He was an excellent pianist and I didn't want to hold him back in any way. I suggested that he go to my piano teacher which is Lydia Reed-Guertin. Over his last year of study, he was under Lydia. He was accepted to Ithaca College in New York for Music Performance in piano and in Music Education. Fall/2022
As a teacher, I feel it's important to continue my education and be involved as a musician. I hold a Masters Degree in Music Education from UMass, Lowell. 2003.
Piano Performance through the RCM program. I began with Level 4. I hold a First Class Honors in each level from 4-9. I'm also doing the theory, history, and harmony that goes with each level. Just this past August in 2023, I received Honors in Level 10! I'm now eligible to go to the ACRT level if I wish to do so.
I am currently studying under Lydia Reed-Guertin. I also play the piano at my church and I'm a current member of NEPTA.
