Stella Hui

Stella Hui is a Vancouver-based performer, collaborative pianist, and pedagogue, and her schedule often consists of teaching students or rehearsing for her next performance. A recent graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Master of Music degree in piano performance, she was the 2019 recipient of The Edgar Raymond Martin Memorial Scholarship in Music as well as a Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies (2019-2020). In addition to receiving her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia (2014), she holds an ARCT diploma for performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, along with a Fellowship diploma from the Trinity College of London. Her esteemed teachers include Dr. Kristina Szutor and Professor Miranda Wong. She was trained in piano pedagogy under the tutelage of UBC professor Alice Enns and is dedicated to both music education and performance. She maintains her private piano studio and has been teaching for over ten years, with students completing their ARCT diplomas in performance. She strongly encourages her pupils to become well-rounded musicians and is passionate about instilling a lifelong appreciation for music, art, and culture in her students. Stella teaches piano lessons in English and is able to communicate with non-native speakers through conversational Cantonese. In addition to her teaching work, Stella is a collaborative pianist for music students at Memorial University School of Music, frequently performing at recitals and competitions. Her most recent music performances have been with the Kittiwake Dance Theatre for their production of The Nutcracker as well as Opera on the Avalon for their production of Jake Heggie’s Three Decembers. Stella’s diverse musical background and experiences allow her to move freely between traditional Classical repertoire and contemporary musical styles.
