With over 30 years of teaching experience, Sibylle Marquardt is one of the leading flute instructors in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She teaches students from age 5 to adult, beginners and young professionals, using individually selected methods .
Teaching positions in Germany and Switzerland brought her to the Faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Music Toronto in 1998.
Since the fall of 2018 she is the Dean of Music and on faculty at the Maritime Conservatory for the Performing Arts. An experienced online teacher since over 10 years, she gives private lessons, coaches groups and ensembles for teenagers and adults, holds regular class concerts and hosts events for her online students.
Her summer course "Maritime Ensemble Week or MEW" is for advanced adult players and is run out of the Maritime Conservatory. During the Pandemic Sibylle took her adult students on cyber trips to 6 different countries and continents, with quick-study repertoire for every difficulty level.
Her students and ensembles are multiple prize winners in the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto, the flute competition of the Canadian Flute Association and the Alliance for New Music. Her students have also been accepted into professional flute studies at multiple universities. Being an examiner herself, Sibylle's students have the option to prepare for regular examinations.
