Professionally trained in Europe classical music and North American Jazz. Having over 10 years of experience teaching music instruments and music composition theory. Planned and taught elementary and high school curriculums and organized school choir performances. Having worked in every kind of orchestra and choral band. A 100% pass rate in music pedagogy and conducting courses. Bringing passion and expertise to your classroom. I am not only teaching instruments, but I also love to teach music and aesthetics. With my strong background in music education and accomplishment as a musician, I have gained a great deal of experience in planning lecture plans and engaging students with interesting and scientific methods from the European, Asian, and North American traditions. I am a graduate music student from the Vancouver Island Music Program. Originally from China, I also graduated from Music Conservatory in 2013. I enjoy it a lot when I was working in a German international school's private music lab to teach students from all over the world. Throughout my time at both universities, I studied music education pedagogy and educational psychology. These courses gave me many skills that are useful for practice, theory, and performance of subjects such as art, dance, drama, and music in schools. It is my passion to share music with students and encourage them to love it. Not only do I teach instruments, but I also use my love of music to teach aesthetics and the beauty of sound. The main goal of my teaching is to develop the ability to listen to music and improvise it. That is also the key to how I play music not only read music sheets but can play by ear. Meanwhile, lots of my piano students achieved their 10 Grades exams in RCM and ABRSM. I believe establishing the Rhythm and Groove feel for students is very important at an early age. My experience includes both music concerts and performances, as well as audio and video knowledge for instrument adjustment and software editing. While I was studying in Canada, I also worked as an arts and humanities assistant. I get to help with all kinds of campus music events. For example, I assisted with the Nanaimo International Jazz Festival and helped all the big bands from secondary schools across the island. Here are some examples of events I have joined in the last 8 years: I organized an Xbox Fans night music show during Chinajoy 2015. I performed the French musical "Les Misérables" with musicians from the French orchestra in Shanghai's Culture Square theatre. Founded and led a Chinese band that performed in many Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, and Singapore on one of the largest cruise ships belonging to MSC. In 2019 awarded with the France Concours international de piano de Courchevel D’Honneur Performing with the VIU big band at the Vancouver Island conference center and Malaspina theatre.
