Sherry Hsu

Teacher ARCT
Sherry Hsu holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Victoria and an ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She is also a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers’ Association. Sherry began her musical training at age 4 and developed a life long interest for it. Music has deeply enriched her life and inspired her to teach. For over the course of 20 years, she has taught young beginners, teenagers and adults. For each individual student, she designs curriculum that suits his or her age, interest, and ability. In the lesson, students will learn to read music, play by ear, and improvise. Students have the opportunity to learn both classical and contemporary music. They are encouraged to develop practical skills which will enable them to become independent musicians. Her goal is to cultivate their love for music and motivate them to play the piano for their own enjoyment. Sherry speaks fluent English and Mandarin. The studio is conveniently located near Coquitlam Centre in the Tri-City area (Coquitlam, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam). The studio is currently accepting students young beginners to adults. Students are accepted at any level: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Regular lessons are focused on traditional classical piano instruction. Other topics are introduced periodically with the intent to cultivate a well-rounded musical training: *reading music *playing by ear *improvisation *music theory, harmony and history *exam preparation (RCM or Canada Conservatory)
