Rosanna D’Agnillo, B.A., M.A., is a Calgary-based vocalist (opera singer) and instrumentalist (piano, guitar, ukulele), and film/TV composer (SOCAN, ASCAP). Fluent in English, French and her native Italian, she teaches classical (RCM) and pop voice, piano, theory, harmony, as well as folk/indie guitar and ukulele. She tailors instruction to the needs of individual students to nurture a lifelong love of music, regardless of age or skill level. She also offers group lessons, for example, to home-schooled students or families with many children. She is passionate and disciplined about theory and music literacy as well as being a prolific songwriter across genres. She completed her Master of Arts at the University of Calgary, then relocated to San Francisco, where she trained voice with Karl Lindemann, the last protege of Puccini’s leading soprano, Rosa Raisa, Natalie Limonick from the UCLA Opera Department and the internationally renowned David Jones in New York. She is a true bel canto Italian opera singer in Canada, with direct lineage to the greats and the pedagogy of the early 20th century . With a performance career of 20+ years as well as being an instructor, she is competent, agile, flexible and versatile across instruments and styles. Rosanna is a youth music community activist, teaching songwriting, and hosts a monthly youth music open mic for classical and non-classical musicians of any genre. She also teaches mindfulness meditation, hosting a weekly community practice in person & online, as well as having worked with hundreds of students in the Calgary Board of Education and at the Tsuut’ina Nation.
