Since graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor's and Master's in Music Education, Mary has been heavily involved with music performance and teaching. She was the recipient of the Graduate Fellowship and the Jeffrey Drdul OSOTF Memorial Award.
As a performer, she has had the privilege to grace the stages of many venues across the GTA, including Massey Hall and the Roy Thomson Hall (alongside the Toronto Symphony Orchestra). Currently, she serves as a sectional lead and board member for the Ontario Cross-Cultural Music Society, and has performed as a guest musician for the North York Concert Orchestra and the Milton Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mary’s extensive teaching portfolio in the past 20 years includes both private studio teaching and classroom teaching. Her knowledge in Childhood Music Education, Special Education, and Orff Education have helped to create and modify lessons for individual student needs and help to foster a love for music.
Since 2005, she has offered lessons in piano, violin, voice, and theory in her private studio. She is also currently a Music Teacher with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), directing mixed choirs, strings ensembles, band ensembles, full orchestra, ukulele ensembles, and chamber groups.
As an affiliate of many music organizations, such as the Ontario Music Educator's Association (OMEA), Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO), Carl Orff Canada, and Ontario Strings Association (OSA), Mary is constantly seeking new opportunities to update her teaching pedagogy and experiment with new things.
