Ms. Mary Singh moved to the DFW area from NYC. In NYC she worked as a freelance pianist and vocalist playing and singing for choirs, churches, and as an accompanist.
Before receiving her Bachelors she did precollege under Ms. Renee Guerrero who was a faculty at the Manhattan School of Music. She then received her bachelor’s of Science in Music from Lehman College where she studied piano and voice and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Music Education by the age of 23. She has been under the tutelage of Oscar and Pulitzer award winning composer John Corigliano and Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Bob Stewart. She has also been alto section leader of the Lehman College Community Chorus under the direction of Dr. Battipaglia for 8 years before moving to Texas. Ms. Singh has been classically trained in piano since she was 6 years old and has also taught at the Music Academy of Garden City where she instructed private lessons to children from ages 4 to adult. She has also sung at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center under the direction of Sue Talley and the Nyack College Chorale. Ms. Singh formerly taught at the Music Institute of North Texas in Frisco under Melody Ouyang for 4 years and at Lone Star Music Academy in Flower Mound. She has also had the position of alto section leader at Frisco United Methodist Church. She currently teaches piano lessons one day a week at Starwood Academy of Frisco and mostly from her home studio in Frisco, TX where she enjoys playing on her 6 foot grand.
Some of her objectives are to encourage the individual student’s musical, artistic and intellectual development while providing instruction in classical music theory, musicianship and repertoire. She is also on the RCM teacher list and is a Steinway Education partner.
