Lydia Aluri Blakemore is a classical pianist living in the Orlando area where she maintains a private piano studio and is an active performer. Lydia has been teaching privately for about 16 years and has experience working with students of all ages and levels. She has had the privilege of studying with many distinguished teachers and her performance career has taken her to various venues in the United States and Italy.
Lydia is a graduate of Florida State University, where she received a Masters of Music in Piano Performance under Dr. Read Gainsford. Previous to her study at Florida State University, she obtained a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina where she studied with Dr. Derek Parsons. While at Furman Unversity, Lydia was selected to participate in a semester-long study abroad program in Arrezzo, Italy where she worked with Italian pianist Alessandro Tricomi and performed in venues around Tuscany. Lydia has participated and performed in several masterclasses and music festivals, including the Brevard Summer Music Festival (2009 & 2010).
Lydia performs with her husband as part of the Blakemore Piano Duo and is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association serving on both the state and local boards. She is also proud to be a Founding Teacher in Carnegie Hall's "The Achievement Program", now known as "The Music Development Program" and her students have been awarded the State Certificate of Excellence for highest marks in Florida as well as the National Gold Cup for highest marks in the United States. Her students have been the recipients of awards at numerous local and regional competitions.
