Lucile Brais Hildesheim

RCM Examiner
For harpist Lucile Brais Hildesheim, music is an expression of colour and texture. Curious to explore a wide range of music, she loves to push boundaries, and often brings a variety of harps (classical concert grand, celtic, electric) each with its own voice and personality, to the stage. Her solo, concerto and chamber music concerts have taken her across Canada, to Europe and the United States. She has performed with the Ottawa Jazz Orchestra and in the Ottawa Jazz Festival. She graduated in Performance at McGill University, where she trained in orchestra, chamber music, and choral accompaniment. As a teacher, she brings a wide range of experience to her students, having taught pedal harp for almost 40 years, lever harp for over 25 years, and more recently electric harp with multiple effects pedals. Lucile teaches improvisation and encourages her students to create their own arrangements and compositions. She teaches theory up to level 8 using the RCM's Celebrate Theory collection. Former students have won a JUNO award, as well as RCM Gold medals. She is a member of the Royal College of Examiners. Lucile offers in person lessons in her studio located in Ottawa, Ontario, as well as online.
