Lisa Darlene Ammirati

I began my teaching journey at the age of 18 and will be entering my 27th year of teaching. I trained as an organist for 8 years until I decided to take up piano at age 15 and wanted to study further in University. Between the ages of 15-22 I went from Level 4 RCM to Level 10 and auditioned successfully for the University of Calgary Music Degree faculty. I also studied choral music, drama and Italian in addition to my required undergraduate courses for the music degree in secondary education. After this 5 year program I went on to study for an Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in elementary speciality. I decided to open my own private music school to help those specifically in the piano/theory/organ areas in 2007. I have been running Skyline Music since 2007 and we are entering our 18th year serving the community. I am taking pedagogy classes in hopes to create another goal and accomplishment in the RCM world. In 2023 I was voted for (and won) the Arts Educator award after an intense screening and interview. This award is given once a year by the community of Airdrie under the name Airdrie Mayor of the Arts Award. I love to teach piano, theory and history. In my own downtime I practice yoga, take west african dance classes and Zumba as well as cook amazing vegan dishes and try hard not to be a crazy cat and plant lady (of which I am both). My goal is to bring experience, fun and enthusiasm to every lesson with a little side order of encouragement.
