Leslie Mahr holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from UBC and a Master of Music degree in Viola Performance from U of A. She received a graduate teaching assistantship at the U of A where she taught private violin lessons, violin technique/orchestral excerpts class and coached chamber music. She has performed professionally with the Calgary Philharmonic, the Edmonton Symphony, the Richmond (Virgina) Symphony and Symphony Nova Scotia. Ms. Mahr has been Principal Viola of both the Opera Lyra in Ottawa and the Opera Nuova in Edmonton. She was a viola finalist at the Rutgers Summerfest Concerto Competition and has performed as a chamber musician at the Scotia Festival of Music and the Wilmington (Delaware) Music Festival. Ms. Mahr was the founder and violist of the Taylor String Quartet which performed in Edmonton. She has extensive teaching experience with all ages on both violin and viola. Her students have excelled in RCM exams and have been accepted to major Canadian universities in performance programs.
