Joyce Wang

With a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from West Virginia University and 22 years of teaching experience, I bring a strong foundation to music education. My journey spans instructing beginners to advanced students, ages 0 to 65, in piano and cello. I cover a spectrum of subjects, including music theory, history, sight-reading, aural skills, pedagogy, and keyboard techniques. Passionate about music from a young age, I especially enjoy making music with young musicians and guiding them into instrumental learning. I have served as a faculty member and Chamber Music Coordinator at UCSI University Institute of Music ( Malaysia), teaching piano, history, theory, pedagogy and music education. Additionally, I contributed as a piano faculty at Wes Virginia University Community Music Program. My approach centers on laying a strong foundation, awakening students' senses, and fostering connection between them and the world of music. As the proud owner of Music @ Riley Park in Vancouver, I passionately offer instrumental teaching across all levels. I connect with diverse Smart Start families and students in communities across Metro Vancouver and Burnaby. Additionally, I engage in collaborative piano work and actively network with musicians throughout British Columbia.
