Hello! Firstly, I love teaching! It has become a passion; seeing students enjoy and celebrate their own progress! I love the bond created between teacher and student, and the mutual understanding that grows over time. I view teaching music as an opportunity to invest in a student's life; not just their musical life but from a wider perspective; social development, growth of confidence, investment in memory techniques, creative outlets; in short, much more than just music! I am a Fellow of the Royal Schools of Music, (FRSM), through the United Kingdom. I have a jazz trio (Tuesday in Blue), and I have a contemporary Christian band (Hope's Creed) here in Calgary. I also compose large stage works; to date, I have composed an oratorio, a children's musical, and a large-stage musical is still in the works. As a composer, I find that explaining why the music is written in the way it is, is most helpful to students. Most students enjoy getting a larger perspective of the piece they are working on! I hope you consider piano lessons! Piano is the basis of composition and learning to play piano is a highly satisfying experience, both musically and personally. Come find that out!
