Pianist Ariel Gonzalez, a native of Cuba, holds a University Degree in Piano Performance, Chamber Music, and Collaborative Piano from the Higher Institute of Art of Havana, where he studied with outstanding piano teachers and graduated with the highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) in 1998. Mr. Gonzalez came to Canada in 1999 after winning a full scholarship to study the master’s degree in Piano Performance at the University of Calgary, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Charles Foreman, and graduated in 2001.
He received several awards in numerous piano competitions in his native country, and has performed as a soloist and as a member of chamber ensembles in Cuba, Italy, Switzerland, and Canada. Also, he played a piano solo and piano duo recital at the Concertgebouw Theater in The Netherlands in October of 2019 to wonderful reviews and public attendance.
Ariel has kept a busy schedule as a piano teacher since 2001 at his Private Studio as well as at MRU Conservatory. Lessons could be in English or Spanish. He teaches all levels and also help students to get ready for exams, recitals, auditions, festivals, and competitions. Mr. Gonzalez has been invited several times to participate in concerts and summer music festivals, playing as a soloist, participating in master classes, and sharing the stage with outstanding musicians from Canada and abroad. Ariel has also been an adjudicator for music festivals and competitions on several occasions. He frequently performs solo and chamber music recitals in his home city.
