Anna Mendham

Hi, I'm Anna I received my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Maryland, where I taught undergraduate level voice courses. Since then, I've maintained a busy teaching schedule teaching private voice, music theory, musical theatre, choir and early childhood music classes. My students have gone on to achieve first class honours in RCM examinations, participate in multiple competitions and pursue post secondary degrees in music. I have students of all ages and stages, but I do feel a particular penchant for teaching young children, particularly those with neurodivergence. My teaching style is engaging and flexible, sensitive to the individual and no one gets put in a box. I use props, visuals, movement and all kinds of tools to support my students technique and musicianship. I am a strong believer in stickers. I'm a professional opera singer. As a soloist I've performed in the United States and Canada with companies such as Cowtown Opera Company, and the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra. Most recently, I made my debut with the Calgary Concert Opera at the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary. As an ensemble singer, I've performed with Marin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Christoph Eschenbach and the National Symphony Orchestra in D.C. I'm most passionate about performing in my community, and volunteering to bring music into retirement homes. I'm also a full member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
