I have been studying the piano for almost 50 years and counting, and have been a professional musician and artist for 30 years. In that time, I have had the honour and privilege of working with some of Canada's brightest lights, including Measha Bruggergosman, Molly Johnson, Jackie Richardson, David Clayton-Thomas, and many more. I have opened for Bobby McFerrin, Musical Directed tributes to Oscar Peterson and Quincy Jones, and performed for Nelson Mandela - twice. I offer instruction to teachers and advanced students ONLY. While I have extensive experience in Baroque, Classical, and Romantic styles, I specialize in the music of the African diaspora: jazz, Gospel, funk, soul, R & B, Blues, and many African continental styles. My degree area of focus was non-style-specific improvisation, and as such, have fluency with all manner of spontaneous composition. I put heavy emphasis on rhythm, and spent years studying advanced rhythm techniques with South Indian master drummer Trichy Sankaran.
