After graduating from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2003, I began teaching piano in Ottawa while continuing my piano and theory studies with Paulette Price and Sandra Cooke. I received my ARCT (Piano Teacher) with First-Class Honours from the Royal Conservatory of Music. For many years I served on the council of the Ottawa Region Branch of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association. I established my Montréal studio in 2011. I have also taught drama and musical theatre to children and teens for the past 15 years, co-authoring four original musicals and many children’s plays.
From the very first lessons, I integrate repertoire, technique, sight reading, theory, solfège and ear training games to ensure that my students don’t simply learn to play pieces, but to love and understand music. I set clear expectations for home practice, while keeping the atmosphere light and fun. As they progress, I give my students the option to pursue exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and I work with students and parents to ensure they are well-prepared. Recitals are held twice per year.
I also offer one-on-one Theory Lessons in preparation for the Royal Conservatory of Music Theory Exams.
