Amanda is a multi-talented instrumentalist, composer, and teacher who loves to express herself through many different facets of music-making. Currently violinist of Mariachi Sin Frontera (Vancouver Island's first Mariachi group) and violist of Riccio Strings, she has also performed with multiple orchestra, fiddle, and chamber groups. She achieved her Bachelor's in Music Composition from the University of Victoria in 2021 where she also studied viola throughout her degree. Amanda has performed as a member of the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra since 2013 on both violin and viola and has attended the GVYO’s Summer String Camps as both a participant and as a viola teaching assistant. She has taken part in various chamber music, fiddle, and composition workshops from North American and European academies and organisations. Amanda has completed RCM exams up to Grade 10 Violin and Music Theory and Grade 7 Piano.
Amanda has taught private and group lessons to a wide range of students of all ages and skill levels since 2020. As a teacher, she believes it’s important to make sure that students have a well-rounded and balanced education. She loves to incorporate theory and composition into her lessons, as well as any music that each student may be interested in including fiddle, classical, popular, film/tv, and video game music. Being fun and flexible in teaching is very important to Amanda. She enjoys finding ways to help each and every student flourish, in their own unique and individual way.
Outside of her work in music, you can find Amanda reading, watching movies and tv shows, playing video games, spending time with animals, and doing all kinds of crafts and baking.
