Alison Dawn Campbell

Alison Dawn Campbell is a soprano, actor, teacher and owner of the Alison Dawn Voice and Music Studio. Originally from the Rothesay area of New Brunswick, she has relocated home to the Kennebecasis Valley after training and working in Toronto for nine years. Having graduated from the Randolph College for the Arts in 2009, Alison studied in the studio of Dr. Michael Donovan, and also with Rosanna Saracino, Darlene Spencer, Jeannie Wyse, John Hughes, Deborah Tenant, Derek Sangster, Jim Betts and Marek Norman, among others. At graduation, Alison was nominated for the coveted Triple Threat award and quickly signed with DaCosta Talent Agency. Shortly thereafter, she performed such roles as Angelina in Vital Theatre Company’s production of Angelina Ballerina: The Musical; Child/Icicle in The Giant’s Garden at the Toronto Fringe Festival; and in The Tailor of Gloucester with Solar Stage. Alison's vast theatrical experience gives her an advantage to guide students in performance technique, emotional engagement and expressing themselves as artists through their music, moving beyond just singing the right notes with proper technique. Alison was the recipient of the 2014 and 2015 Sterling Voice Award, the 2013 and 2015 Sterling Beckwith Award, and was an award winner for Best of Class at the 2012 and 2013 Newmarket Voice Festival, at which she also received the Ron Bonham and Karine White Scholarships. She also placed second at the 2011 and 2012 National Association of Teachers of Singing Auditions. Other awards include the TD Meloche Monnex Bursary 2015, The Stephanie Ling Award in Music Education and Community Recipient 2014 and 2016, the Imasco Performing Arts Award 2014 and the Otis Canada Inc. Bursary Recipient 2013. Alison worked as a soprano soloist and section lead at Toronto’s renowned Metropolitan United Church under the direction of Dr. Patricia Wright, with whom she performed the solo in Bach’s Jesu Der du Meine Seele in 2016. She also performed in the Luminato Festival’s production of Apocalypsis and in many other choral and recital performances in the Toronto area. Throughout her time in Toronto, Alison worked as a performing arts director, music director and music teacher at Zodiac Day Camp, and also taught classes and summer camps in dance and drama and worked as a choreographer for Arts Express. She now teaches out of her studio, Alison Dawn Voice and Music, where she is fulfilling her passion for sharing her love of singing and music with students through private and group instruction, as well as early childhood music classes with children ages 5m-6y. Alison Dawn Voice and Music has also expanded to include a teaching staff of three piano instructors, which is home to 38 new students this year. Alison has continued performing locally, most recently as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors and as Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia! both produced by the Saint John Theatre Company. Alison is thrilled to be thriving back in her hometown, and spreading a love for music and all of the benefits that a musical education provides.
