Alexandra Gorlin-Crenshaw
I accept students from beginner to professional levels. I expect all my students to come to lessons with a genuine desire to learn, and I encourage a steady commitment to practicing with the emphasis on quality: attentive, thoughtful and efficient practice. I help students gain tools and problem-solving skills they may use with increasing independence and confidence in pursuit of their musical ambitions.
I respect each student's unique background and personal goals, and while my approach can be rigorous, cultivating each student's love for music is always the first priority. Some students in my class decide to pursue a professional path in Western classical music and I can help them make progress in that direction - and I also have plenty of students who want to explore other styles, or practices like improvising and composing.
I organize regular group activities and workshops with guest teachers, to facilitate a vibrant and communal atmosphere of learning amongst my students.
