Violin: Suzuki Summer Program (Group Classes + 45-Minute Lessons)
Course Description
Summer Suzuki Violin at the RCM
This summer program is available to both new and returning students at The Oscar Peterson School, and incorporates private lessons and group class learning.
Students will be arranged into one of three overlapping Saturday morning group classes from beginner to more advanced:
Group 1 - 9:45-10:30 am
Group 2 - 10:15-11:00 am
Group 3 - 10:45-11:30 am
These group technique and repertoire classes are very similar to the instrument specific group classes held throughout the school year. Focus will be on learning new techniques through repetition of literature and playing activities.
Summer Suzuki Violin includes six weekly Saturday group classes, and six private lessons. Private lessons can be scheduled with any violin faculty with summer avalability between Monday and Saturday (no Sunday classes). The Oscar Peterson School will contact both returning and new students in late June to set up their private lessons.
All group classes and lessons take place in person. Please note that a parent or caregiver attends group classes and lessons with their child.
Students are required to bring their own instruments. Violins can be fitted and rented via a local music retailer such as The Sound Post or Long & McQuade.
