This program is open to piano, drums, bass, guitar, trumpet, trombone, and saxophone students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 with at least two years of experience playing their instrument.
Click the button below or at the top of this page to pay application fee for the Oscar Peterson School of Music's (OSPM) March Break High School Jazz Program. When completing the application you will be required to:
- submit video recordings of two (2) pieces in two different styles (traditional swing, bebop, funk, latin etc)., demonstrating your overall playing level.
- demonstrating your improvisation skills is preferrable (but not explicilty required). We suggest you may wish to use a play along track from the internet and a perform the lead plus one solo chorus
- a recent video recording of a performances in a big band or combo are acceptable.
*Pieces may be recorded in one take or separately and submitted via YouTube unlisted links. Please submit URLs to the file (ex. through your personal YouTube , and include Title and Composer/Arranger of each piece you are submitting for audition.

Acceptance & Registration
Students will be informed by March 4 whether or not they have been accepted into the program. Upon acceptance, the balance of tuition must be paid by March 8, 2025.
Accepted students will be invoiced for the remaining tuition, less any approved scholarship and financial assistance awards.

This one-week intensive program provides a comprehensive learning experience for students to develop the essentials of jazz performance through small and large ensemble settings. Students will learn and play alongside some of Toronto's best jazz musicians and educators.
Significant scholarship and financial assistance is available for students.
Audition required.

Each day students will rehearse in big band, sectionals, and combos, directed by leading performing artists including RCM Jazz Artist-in-Residence
Robi Botos, acclaimed guitarist
Michael Occhipinti, and special guest faculty on each instrument.
This March Break program wraps with Friday evening concert for friends and family at The Royal Conservatory.
