William Carn
William Carn has distinguished himself as a leading force in Canadian jazz, earning a Juno Award for Best Jazz Group in 2020 with Turboprop. This accomplished trombonist and composer has captivated audiences worldwide with his dynamic performances and innovative compositions.
His current focus, the Carn Davidson 9, a collaborative project with his wife, saxophonist Tara Davidson, features nine of Canada's finest musicians. The ensemble has released four critically acclaimed albums, including "Reverence," a poignant homage to jazz masters. Carn's recent solo project, "CHOICES," explores a collection of electronic compositions developed over the last three years.
Carn's impressive career has seen him collaborate with jazz icons such as Rob McConnell, Randy Brecker, Kenny Wheeler, and Carla Bley, as well as pop luminaries like Janelle Monae and Aretha Franklin. His versatility extends to the theatre, where he has contributed to prestigious Mirvish Productions and Stratford Festival productions for over two decades.
Beyond his performance and recording work, Carn is a passionate educator. As a Rath Trombone Artist and faculty member at the University of Toronto Jazz Studies program, he is dedicated to mentoring aspiring jazz musicians.
