Miles Haskins has been serving as clarinetist and solo bass clarinetist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since the 2017 season, and has served as acting associate principal for the 2016-18 and 2021-2024 seasons. Before moving to Canada, Mr. Haskins was a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida.
An accomplished orchestral musician, Haskins has performed and toured across North America in many ensembles, including The Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Santa Fe Opera, among others. Haskins has been featured as a soloist with the Toronto Symphony, New World Symphony and Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, Haskins regularly performs as a part of the TSO Chamber Soloists and has appeared in numerous festivals and societies throughout the US and Canada, including Toronto Summer Music Festival, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Amici Ensemble, ChamberFest Dubuque, Lakes Area Music Festival, among others.
A committed educator, Haskins serves on the clarinet faculty of the University of Toronto, The Taylor Academy of the Royal Conservatory, and as the woodwind coach for the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. Additionally, he has presented masterclasses at the New World Symphony, Mannes College of Music, Royal Conservatory, Iberacademy, University of Antioquia, and the University of South Dakota.
Mr. Haskins is a Buffet-Crampon Artist playing exclusively on Buffet-Crampon instruments and a D’Addario Woodwind Performing Artist.
