Maureen Baird is a private piano,theory and woodwinds teacher living in Melita MB. Ms. Baird taught elementary music, choir, band and jazz band for many years while maintaining a private studio and working as an RCM examiner. Currently Ms. Baird maintains a home studio of piano, voice, theory and woodwind students and teaches piano one day a week at the Eckhardt Gramatté Conservatory at Brandon University School of Music. Maureen’s private students have competed in several SW Manitoba festivals and her school groups at the Brandon Jazz Festival, Brandon Level 1 Band Festival, Winnipeg Concert Band Festival and Edmonton Cantando Band Festival. Ms. Baird began and directed a community girls’ choir for 4 years and co‐directed several musical theatre community productions and middle‐years school musicals.

Maureen has adjudicated in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan, piano and band, and will continue to pursue adjudicating duties with her retirement from public school teaching in June of 2022.

Ms. Baird plays piano for her local church and has accompanied many students over the years for festival/exams and performances. She played saxophone in a Big Band Jazz Group and sings with the Bel Canto Choir of the Brandon University Conservatory.

Maureen is currently on the executive of the MRMTA, serving as vice-president and then president from January 2023 to June of 2025. She also remains active as secretary for the Brandon and SW Manitoba branch of MRMTA.
