Lois Simmons is active as an adjudicator, clinician, accompanist, and chamber musician, and maintains a busy private piano studio in Hamilton, Ontario.
Among her influential teachers were Donald Cooke at Bedford Studios in Hamilton and Andrew Markow at the University of Toronto.
In the spring of 2012 Ms. Simmons gave a talk entitled "The Role of Assessment in Studio Curriculum" at McMaster University. In the past few years she has led teacher workshops in preparing students for examinations in the early to intermediate grades, including a Royal Conservatory workshop in Saskatchewan in June 2007.
She was an adjudicator for the Reginald Bedford Piano Performance Scholarship at McMaster University in the spring of 2012.
Lois Simmons is in demand as an accompanist and chamber musician in the Hamilton area, and has performed as part of a piano duo with her husband, Joe Argentino, most recently at an ORMTA fundraiser in Oakville in 2010.
Lois is a member of the Hamilton/Halton branch of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association; from 2009 to 2012 she served as a member of the executive of the branch.
