The Royal Conservatory’s 2024-25 Concert Season Now On Sale

In its 16th concert season, the RCM will welcome over 80 classical, jazz, roots, and global music performances, showcasing exceptional artists from Canada and around the world
Alexander Brose, President & CEO Designate of The Royal Conservatory of Music, Executive Director of Performing Arts Mervon Mehta, and Dean of The Glenn Gould School James Anagnoson, have revealed details of the Conservatory’s 16th season now available for purchase. Amongst these are Koerner Hall debuts by over 20 artists including Juno Award-winning songwriter Rufus Wainwright and the Czech Philharmonic conducted by Semyon Bychkov with Jan Mráček, as well as premieres of works by over 10 artists including Bruce Hornsby and Jane Bunnett.
The season begins with a special concert to Commemorate the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation with internationally celebrated Inuit singer Tanya Tagaq debuting a new work and performing with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Jennifer Tung, as well as performances by the Manitou Mkwa Singers, Glenn Gould School soprano Emma Pennell, and others.
Over the holidays, The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) is thrilled to present Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning musical Into the Woods, which runs from December 28 to 31. This is the third Sondheim musical to be produced by The Royal Conservatory after previous successful runs of Follies and A Little Night Music. This year’s production features a stellar all-Canadian cast including Tess Benger, Gabi Epstein, Sara Farb, Mike Nadajewski, Fiona Reid, Eric Peterson, and others.
Other 2024-25 Season Highlights include:
- Our Global Music concerts include the Koerner Hall debut of the chart-topping South African singer Thandiswa Mazwai, a tribute to the late and legendary Cesária Évora, and a spotlight on Cuban music with performances by Harold López-Nussa with Hilario Durán as well as by Eliades Ochoa.
- The Music Mix series features Grammy Award winners Los Lobos, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain with sold out performances for their previous Koerner Hall performance, Michael Feinstein’s tribute to Tony Bennett featuring the Carnegie Hall Ensemble, and more.
- Our Quiet Please, There’s a Lady on Stage concert series returns with spell-binding performances by fado superstar Mariza, Italian singer Ilaria Pilar Patassini with Canadian trumpeter Bria Skonberg and Piaf! The Show.
- The 21C Music Festival returns to showcase innovative new music by some of today’s most fearless artists, including Measha Brueggergosman-Lee, Michelle Cann and the Imani Winds, three performances of “The Journal of Hélène Berr” with mezzo-soprano Rihab Chaieb with the Dior Quartet, and more.
Tickets are already selling fast for our classical and jazz performances announced earlier this year, which includes The Royal Conservatory’s Fall Signature Event with the Czech Philharmonic conducted by Semyon Bychkov with Daniil Trifonov, performances by artists such as Sheku Kanneh-Mason with Isata Kanneh-Mason, Branford Marsalis, Louis Lortie, Emilie-Claire Barlow, James Ehnes, Monty Alexander, Schaghajegh Nosrati, and so many more.
