To celebrate Black History Month, the RCM’s Rupert Edwards Library has launched its newest collection,
Amplified Voices: Celebrating BIPOC Composers. Planning for this collection began this past summer and while it will now be an ongoing (and growing) project, the funding for the initial acquisition of works was provided by Nance Gelber and Dan Bjarnason.
Previous library acquisitions resulting from the support of these generous donors include selected volumes from the New Edition of the Complete Works of Robert Schumann, an expansion of the existing brass literature holdings (both solo and ensemble works), and a collection of works for voice by Canadian women composers.
Amplified Voices is now searchable as a subject heading and is highlighted on the
library website, through a weekly featured composer section for the month of February. “
Finding Diverse Repertoire”, an online library guide including links to external sources, has been created as a companion to this collection.
