Ben Albertson (BMus ’22, harp) was the third-place winner at Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra’s 2021 Young Artist Competition (Colorado), with his performance of Alberto Ginastera’s Harp Concerto, Op. 25.

Stephanie Tang (ADP ‘18) and Kevin Ahfat (2018-19 Rebanks Fellow) are competing in the upcoming semi-finals for the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) – Piano 2021.  Their online performances take place on Tuesday, April 27 at 11 a.m. ET (Stephanie) and Wednesday, April 28 at 3 p.m. ET (Kevin).

Godwin Friesen (BMus ’20 / ADP ’22, piano) was the winner of three performance awards at the recent PianoArts North American Competition – the Gift of Music Award presented to each semi-finalist, Best Performance of a Composition by J.S. Bach as well as a Scholarship to the International Keyboard Institute and Festival.

Alexander Malikov (ADP ’21, piano) was invited to participate in this year’s Sydney International Piano Competition (online) – involving three rounds of pre-recorded performances between March and May. These will be available for on-demand streaming from July 2-18.

Vasil Garvanliev (PDP ’08, baritone) is representing North Macedonia in the upcoming 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. His video of the country’s chosen song, Here I Stand, was presented to the public on YouTube in mid-March.

The Northern Winds Quintet - including Maria Vallejo (ADP ’19, flute), Rick Barrantes (ADP ’19, bassoon) and Cesar Palacio (ADP ’19, clarinet) - advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2021 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The 48th annual installment of this competition takes place online from May 14-16.
